A Dedicated Art Teacher
Since 1992, I’ve been working with students of all ages and abilities in K-12 public education classrooms, after-school programs, summer camps, and art history programs. I come from a family of artists and received my BA in Art Studio with an emphasis in sculpture. I also have a multiple subject teaching credential and MA in cross-cultural education.
I believe that everyone is innately creative and fostering that creativity, in all of its shapes and forms, is needed now more than ever. Working virtually pushed me to create lessons that were accessible to teachers and parents to create at home. These lessons were then used and enjoyed as we returned to in person learning to rave reviews. I offer completed lessons with examples, supply lists, and how to videos for those parents/teachers that might feel intimidated by teaching the arts.
In addition to virtual lessons and classes for children, I also offer adult art wellness classes for team building and group events. I’ve found that adults need this time to go back to their childhood and remember their creative sides as well.
I love sharing my passion with others and am so grateful that I get to share my love of art and creativity with others.
Testimonials
“I have co-taught with Janine for the past three years. While teaching remotely with her (March 2020--June 2021) she taught weekly art lessons to our class which quickly became the highlight of many students' week. Through creativity and her understanding of the transformative power of working with one's hands, she created lessons and projects that delighted, engaged, and relaxed our young learners. Her work touched their lives, helping them cope during a most difficult time. I highly recommend her." - Paige Johnson
"I attended Janine’s Adult Art Class on resistance painting in December and was amazed at the beautiful work I was able to create in such a short amount of time. Janine is so organized, experienced and attracted such a great group that it made the class fun and relaxing. I really appreciated how all the quality art tools were set up and we got to experiment with different mediums. I came home with 3 beautiful handmade cards that I will be giving out for the Holidays. I highly recommend her class if you want to make space in your life for creative expression or just want a stress-free night full of fun!" - Lora Douglas
